Welcome to this week’s Weekly Round Up. This week is a special My Secret Folder edition where we will fill you in on its developments and give you the scoop on our new upcoming features. Before we do that though, let us bring you up the speed on the past week’s successes.
    Brightai
    My Secret Folder Tops Charts

This week saw My Secret Folder App reach the number one spot in a few new territories. The most important achievement for us was reaching number one in the USA Lifestyle chart in the middle of the week. Concurring the UK and USA charts were important to us and although cracking the USA chart has been long and tough we finally got there in the end. At this time of writing we are currently 18th in the All Genre USA iTunes App Chart!

European and American regions have swiftly taken over the Australian market, which was our second most successful region. This is thanks to the recent localisation that we have added for the App’s description in over 10 iTunes AppStores. As a result, Germany has really taken off, which was an interesting surprise for us. We will go into sales figures as soon as we reach a landmark figure - which we are closing in on very fast!

    Press and Media

We have created a homepage for My Secret Folder to help with our App’s marketing – http://www.brightai.net/apps/msf. From here you can read the latest features of the App as well as new features coming soon. Visitors can also view screenshots and videos of the App as well as read review case studies, direct download links from the AppStore and requests promo codes for reviews.

If you are a blog or App review site please do get in touch with us if you wish to review My Secret Folder, we have limited promo codes available – so be quick!

    Reviews

We have had a few fan reviews of My Secret Folder, who have created great reviews off their own back without a promo code in sight! So we thank those people for taking time and money in creating such welcoming reviews of My Secret Folder.

The best review goes to WDINT on YouTube, who posts this factual, yet very funny review of My Secret Folder.

    Upcoming Future Features

Now for the juicy stuff! We would like to take this opportunity to let our users know what is coming soon in future updates of My Secret Folder. We’ve had some great feedback and feature requests, and some of those will be coming to v1.5 of the App. So let us take you through some of the highlights:

    Notes

The ability to make notes in My Secret Folder is a common feature request that we had already scheduled in a future update. Mimicking the iOS Notes App, users will be able to create a Notes Album and begin adding private notes, secretly and securely. MSF Notes can be used to store private information, general notes, birthday gift lists, business secrets or even passwords – the limit of its use is just your imagination!
    Pastedgraphic-5
    Bookmarks

Another feature that we had originally planned but has also been requested is the ability to browse and save bookmarks privately and securely. Users will be able to use the MSF in-app browser to surf their favourite websites, these can then be bookmarked for fast accessing from the launch of the App. No longer will you need to clear your browser history as all website history will be kept within the App and does not get shared with the devices own Safari App. We believe this feature will be a very welcomed by our users.
    Pastedgraphic-4
    Contacts

If you would like to keep your personal or business contacts private, you can do so with MSF Contacts. Create a Contact Album and be able to enter your private contact details, from: names, contact photos, e-mail addresses and telephone numbers. You can also add a note for each contact, which can be used for addresses as well as well as the ability to rate them using our swipe or tap star rating system.
    Pastedgraphic-3
    Enhanced Break-In Attempts

This is one feature that we are very excited to bring to our users. We have enhanced our break-in attempt area of the App, where users will be able to enable the ability to take a photo of anyone who tries to break into your secret folder. No longer will you need to guess who it was that tried to break in, the App will secretly take a photo of the person. On top of this we have the usual details of time, date, code used to break-in as well as the GPS location.

We have also tidied up the break-in area, adding more features to navigate between break-ins and viewing multiple pins on Google Maps. We are excited to hear the feedback of this new photo capture feature, where people breaking-in will be well and truly caught red handed!
    Pastedgraphic-2
    Localisation

Future versions of the App will bring language support for up to 10 languages including: German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Dutch, Korean, Chinese and Japanese.

We have noticed that even chart-topping Apps such as “What’s App” do not offer such localisation support in their Apps, at the frustration of its many users. Due to our App selling so well in non-English countries we are busy adding support for foreign languages in My Secret Folder. We hope to release the first of our App’s language support in v1.5 with the remaining languages to come in future updates.
    Pastedgraphic-6
    A Big Thank You!

If you are an owner of our My Secret Folder App we would like to take this opportunity to thank you so much for your support. Please do recommend, rate and review our App on iTunes, as this will allow us to keep this App maintained and updated with even more great new features!

Welcome dear readers! Once again it is time for another edition of our Weekly Round Up. This week we have a short wrap of our My Secret Folder plus a few little App update announcements.

    Pastedgraphic-1
    My Secret Folder 1.4 Update

Version 1.4 of My Secret Folder released in the middle of the week, earlier than expected thanks to a speedier reviewing week at Apple. This update brings a landmark update to the App - iPad support. We are happy to bring this well received App to the iPad platform and we have many more features planned for both the iPhone and iPad versions of My Secret Folder, so stay tuned for updates.

We have decided to work a little longer on version 1.5 update; this is mostly due to the amount of new features and improvements that we decided to bring in this upcoming update, which now supports two platform specs.

In v1.5 we hope to bring localised language support for a few selected countries, there will also be the ability to store private notes and also the ability to privately surf and bookmark websites inside the App. We also have a number of really exciting landmark features planned for our users that will make My Secret Folder an even stellar App to download on the App Store!

Worldwide success of My Secret Folder has slowly grown outside the UK marketplace, with chat topping success in Australia, Arabic regions, North and Southern America as well as particular Western European countries. As of today we are also pleased to announce that My Secret Folder is now No.1 in the UK iPad Lifestyle Chart as well as the UK iPhone Lifestyle Chart.

Official Liverpool Match & News Centre

A few of our readers may be interested in our progress of the Official Liverpool Match & News Centre App, so let us bring you up to date on that.

Sadly developments haven’t been as fast as we’d have hoped, however over the past two weeks we have started to receive content from the club. Slowly but surely the App is now starting to come together, and hopefully in the next week or two we should have the remaining content in and be at a stage where we can get our App into the hands of fans! Stay tuned to the blog and our twitter feed for any new updates with this App.

Welcome to all our followers! Here we are again with another weekly round up of goings on at Bright AI HQ. This week we have more news on My Secret Folder, more sports updates and our interview with The Sunday Times.

    Brightai
    My Secret folder 1.3 Update

Version 1.2 of our successful My Secret Folder App was launched last week, which introduced various fixes and also the ability to import video files into the App. We saw the many reviews and reports of people seeing blank images when importing their photos and it was frustrating that we were unable to speed our fix through Apple's review team - as we had sadly ran out of expedite requests.

We've pinpointed the problem being with the device's Location Settings, and the users instant reaction to not share their location when launching the App. Without this setting set to on, Apple make it difficult to access the photo library, and it has been an issue that we've had to recover from on the fly. We submitted a fix for this as soon as 1.2 was released and after another painful week waiting while our App was waiting for review we are happy to announce the release of version 1.3 is now live.

Version 1.3 brings not only major fixes but also the ability to capture video from within the App, which was a feature we were not 100% happy with releasing in version 1.2. Version 1.3 also brings a few visual nips and tucks to the user interface for a more slicker experience.

My Secret Folder's success has had us focusing on its development each week as we work in new features, improvements and fixes to any feedback issues we receive from our users. Version 1.4 was submitted hot off the heals of 1.3 releasing and should be with users in a few days. This new version brings more improvements to the iPhone version as well as support for iPad in the same App. We believe this will bring a new audience to My Secret Folder from people that own an iPad and not an iPhone/iPod. Expect the same slick interface, user experience and support.

This coming week we hope to touch base with a number of review sites and we also be launching our first website for an App that we have created! If you are reading this and you write for an App review website, please get in touch with us so we can put you on our review promo list. We are ideally looking for sites that can help us introduce My Secret Folder to an North American audience.

My Secret Folder has been #1 in Lifestyle chart for two weeks now, and it has climbed up the All Paid chart to position #5 in the UK. Over the coming weeks we hope to bring users new features, improved reliability and bring more awareness to new iTunes territories. If you have yet to pick My Secret Folder up, you can get the App from iTunes on the link below.

    Football Banter for FANS! Releases

With such an active userbase in our Football Total News Club Apps, it has always been part of our MIA Sports road map to release an App that allows fans from different clubs to chat amongst each other, and what better time to release this App at the start of a new football season.

In our Football Banter for FANS! App, users are able to browse through our many club chat rooms, in many leagues, and talk with fans of their favorite team as well as debate with opposition fans. Now, this could be a recipe for disaster, but we are willing to give this a shot. We are happy to report that within 24hours we have seen the App launch in to the 2nd spot of the iPhone Sports Chart in the UK, and 3rd on the iPad Sports Chart in the UK.

We have plenty of new features and moderating tools planned for this App, so stay tuned to the blog for any new updates for this App.  We also have an Android mobile and tablet version coming real soon too.

We recently reported that we would be developing for the webOS platform. So it comes as a bit of a shock to read about the reports of HP discontinuing operations for webOS devices, especially when we had only just received development hardware this week.

We are still in talks with HP and hope to confirm our continued developments on the webOS platform very soon.

    Animal Sounds for Kids

With the thousands of Apps selling on the iTunes App Store, as a developer you sometimes have to poke around in areas you have yet to compete in to see what kind of mark you can make. This week we have have done just that by releasing a sound board App for young children, that will not only entertain them but the App can also be used as a fairly simple educational App for children of ages 2-6 years.

Animal Sounds for Kids features 24 fun animal sounds from around the world, bouncy animation effects and vibrant and colourful artwork of each featured animal. There are so many applications for children that fail in keeping it simple. Developers plaster all manner of in-app popups or confusing buttons that will most likely stop the enjoyment from the App in an instant as soon as it is pressed, followed by the cries of "What do I press?" - if you're lucky!

Our goal was to keep things very simple, with very little if any possibilities of accidentally 'breaking' the experience once the child is inside the application. Having tested this simple App on a number of young children aged between 2 and 7 years old, Animal Sounds for Kids has proven to be an enjoyable success that will keep your child occupied and entertained, whilst leaving you in the knowledge that they can not accidentally take themselves out of the experience (as long as they don't press the Home button!).

    NASCAR News HD

Our NASCAR News App now joins our Moto GP and F1 iPad suite of motor sport Apps for iPad on the iTunes App Store.

The App features the latest news, race results and championship standings for the great American motor racing sport. Utilising our M.I.A. 2.0 Engine, NASCAR News HD brings a slick and easy to navigate interface for racing fans on Apple's iPad device.

We have plans to roll our motor sport iPad App onto the Android and webOS Tablet market, so stay tuned for announcements nearer the time.

Official Liverpool Match & News Centre Beta Test

This week we spoke out about our developments of the Official Liverpool Match & News Centre Apps for Liverpool Football Club.

It is great to be in touch with the core fan base, who will eventually be using the Apps we are currently developing. We were happy to announce in the LFC blog post this week that we will be rolling out beta invite access for both Android and iOS Apps as we close in on the end of their development. The beta will be held mainly to iron out any small issues and bugs, so expect a near complete App experience rather than a raw work-in-progress build.

With the season getting ever closer, we are working flat out on getting the App ready in time for the start of the season, however even at this late stage in development it is good to get fan feedback and listen to suggestions and improvements from the fans about new features that we can add in future updates of the application.

How do I take part in the beta?

If you are a Liverpool FC fan and have and iOS (iPhone, iPod, iPad) or Android device you can help beta test the new Liverpool Match & News Centre Application. If you want to be part of this beta testing drop us an email on info [at] brightai.net or tweet us on Twitter by tweeting @brightai.

When you get in touch please let us know which device you have and which operating system version you are currently running.

We will then get in touch with the selected people over the next two weeks on how you can get involved.

You can also see a sneak peak of the design of the iPhone and iPad Apps in the image above.

Look out for more info on the LFC Apps nearer launch.

    MIA Statistics

We thought it would be good to share some statistics around our mobile templating system, MIA. Over the past 12 months we have released many applications built on our in-house platform, and in July 2011 over 1.2 million people had downloaded an application built on MIA across iOS and Android. This is a statistic that we are very happy to share with you, and with the planned launch of webOS & Blackberry versions we hope that the number of users will increase quickly throughout the rest of the year.

What was even more interesting was the amount of use the applications continue to get on a daily basis. Here are some high level results:
    • Average daily visitors - 45,000
    • Average daily page views - 115,000
    • Average time viewing the app per session - 2.5 mins
    • 74% of users are repeat users
It makes interesting reading that the type of content we are producing has users coming back to our applications several times over.

We will do a more detailed analysis of the data in a future blog post.

    Games in Q3-Q4 2011

We have already released games built using the cross-platform 3D engine, Unity. With the Official Liverpool Shootout game being our first downloadable game, we are very excited to announce that we have ramped up the production of many more Unity 3D based games which will be released in the run up to the holiday season, accross iOS and Android platforms. We are keeping tight lipped on any further announcements at this stage, but we will send out sneak peaks of what we are working on over the coming weeks. What we can say is that our first published 3D game we will be releasing very soon (Apple permitting) is a revamped version of our first ever App on iPhone, Keepy Uppy. This 'Pro' release of the game will consist of an all new 3D engine, with new graphics and additional game modes.

    Apple Price Change

This week saw Apple correct regional prices of Apps on its iTunes App Store to be in-line with the Dollar exchange rate and local tax laws. For the UK this has created an increase in App prices, which maybe a concern for the consumer, but for UK developers the means we will see a little boost in our overall revenue earnings. The new low price of £0.59p has increased to £0.69p and consumers will no doubt have a problem with this, but in time this will subside. Our main concern is whether we will see a reduction in purchases from this change, especially with higher priced Apps. In hindsight prices can be reduced, and we have already seen this happen, where particular App developers reducing their App prices to bring them down into a similar pricing structure that their App was previously on.

Friends in other areas of the globe have had a bad deal with this change however, with App prices going down in Japan, meaning developers not only getting a bad Yen to the Dollar exchange from App sales but also now a reduced App sale price.

For us,  the bottom line is that we are happy to see this a price increase in Applications, as it is difficult to be spending time and money developing Applications to then sell them for such small amounts on the App Store only to compete in a flooded App Store market.
